TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF MECOSTA COUNTY

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN A PRIMARY ELECTION WILL BE HELD ON:

August 2, 2016

 

THE POLLS of said election will be open August 2, 2016 at 7:00 a.m. and will remain open until 8:00 p.m. for the purpose of voting for candidates seeking nomination to the offices of the 4th District Representative in Congress, State Representative 102nd District, Prosecuting Attorney, Sheriff, Clerk, Treasurer, Register of Deeds, County Road Commissioner, Drain Commissioner, County Commissioner District #1, County Commissioner District #2, County Commissioner District #3, County Commissioner District #4, County Commissioner District #5, County Commissioner District #6, and County Commissioner District #7, Township Supervisor, Clerk, Treasurer, Trustee, Delegates to County Convention, and the following proposal;                                                                                           MECOSTA COUNTY PARKS MILLAGE PROPOSAL: For the sole purpose of funding the Mecosta County Parks Commission Capital Improvement Plan, including developing, maintaining, and equipping, improving and making capital expenditures for Mecosta County Parks, shall the Constitutional limitation upon the total amount of taxes which may be assessed in one year upon all property within the County of Mecosta, Michigan, be increased by up to 0.5000 of one mil, for a period of five years, 2016 through 2020, inclusive?

BIG RAPIDS CHARTER TOWNSHIP LIBRARY SERVICES MILLAGE PROPOSAL: Shall the limitation on general ad valorum taxation within the Charter Township of Big Rapids be increased by 0.20 mill annually for a period of six years, 2016 through 2021, both inclusive, to pay for public library services for Township residents of the Big Rapids Community Library and the Walton Erickson Public Library, and shall the Big Rapids Charter Township levy such new additional millage on taxable property in the Township for said purposes?

CHIPPEWA TOWNSHIP, MECOSTA COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION SERVICE MILLAGE RENEWAL: Shall the Township of Chippewa, Mecosta County, renew a levy of 1 mill for a period of 4 years from 2017-2020 inclusive, for the purpose of providing funds for the purchase of firefighting equipment and other capital and operating expenditures for provision of fire protection services?

CHIPPEWA TOWNSHIP, MECOSTA COUNTY ROAD REPAIR/MAINTENANCE MILLAGE RENEWAL: Shall the Township of Chippewa, Mecosta County, renew a levy of 1 mill for a period of 4 years from 2017-2020 inclusive, for the purpose of providing funds for the maintenance and repair of roads within Chippewa Township boundaries?

MORTON TOWNSHIP LIBRARY MILLAGE PROPOSAL: Shall the prior voted Morton Township Public Library millage rate of 0.8 mill, reduced to 0.7396 mill by the required Headlee Amendment rollbacks, be increased by 0.0604 mill to provide funds to the Morton Township Public Library for all library purposes authorized by law, and shall Morton Township be authorized annually to levy this new additional millage of 0.0604 mill in perpetuity for said purposes as permitted by law?

WHEATLAND TOWNSHIP ROAD REPAIR MILLAGE, NEW ADDITIONAL MILLAGE: Shall the tax rate limitation for Wheatland Township be increased, with a tax levied on all taxable property within the Township, in the amount of 1.0 mill per year for ten years, 2016-2025 inclusive?

WHEATLAND TOWNSHIP PUBLIC LIBRARY RENEWAL OF PREVIOUSLY AUTHORIZED MILLAGE: Shall the tax rate limitation for Wheatland Township be increased, with a renewal of tax levied on all taxable property within the Township, in the amount of eight-tenths mill per year for five years, 2016-2020?

WHEATLAND TOWNSHIP PUBLICE LIBRARY MILLAGE NEW ADDITIONAL MILLAGE: Shall the tax rate limitation for Wheatland Township be increased, and a tax levied on all taxable property, in the amount of four-tenths mill per year for five years, 2016-2020 inclusive?

MONTABELLA COMMUNITY SCHOOOLS OPERATING MILLAGE RENEWAL PROPOSAL: Shall the currently authorized millage rate limitation of 18 mills on the amount of taxes which may be assessed against all property, except principal residence and other property exempted by law, in Montabella Community Schools, Montcalm, Isabella and Mecosta Counties, Michigan, be renewed for a period of 4 years, 2017-2020, inclusive, to provide funds for operating purposes?
